The Arden – An Enclave of Art, Music, Theater and Craft
The arden has a unique character that draws visitors from near and far. It is an enclave that is a center of art, music, theater and craftsmanship. Its residents are a close-knit community. Whether you are coming for the Fair, to visit the Arden Craft Shop Museum, or for a concert or dinner at Gild Hall, you will find an atmosphere of warmth and friendliness.
The 2023 Fair was a wonderful success thanks to all the volunteers and participants. We want to give a special thanks to the Hanby Brandywine YMCA Outdoor Center for letting us use their parking lot during the Fair and for their help and hospitality.
A wide corridor of colored marbles led (guests) into a giant room where the marble floor was softened with bearskins and sofas, and a large fireplace was flanked by two easy chairs. A bas-relief of Harriman by James Earle Fraser stood over one of the marble fireplaces. The walls were covered with murals by (Barry) Francis Barrett Faulkner, and a fountain and shrubbery adorned the inner court.
Today, Arden Fair is the dominant regional mall serving Sacramento, with high-end national tenants like Coach, lululemon athletica and Macy’s. Its excellent freeway access and visibility have helped it achieve impressive sales volume. It has also been recognized for its award-winning design and environmental sustainability initiatives. Its owner, Fulcrum, has been operating the shopping center since 1973. Its distinctive architecture has won several awards and recognitions, including the International Design & Excellence Award from the International Council of Shopping Centers.
