The m15 is Israel’s standard and well-known military gas mask that has been used for decades by their Defense Forces and Law Enforcement agencies. This state-of-the-art NBC face mask is designed to provide full eye, facial and respiratory protection against all known NBC agents, including CN, CS and P100 particulates. It’s a lightweight, comfortable and versatile option for military, police and civilian emergency response personnel.
While the GP-5 was not as effective as later models, it was still an excellent choice for civilians and could be found in nearly every home in the Soviet Union. In fact, the GP-5 was so popular that it’s even used today as an RPE (Respiratory Protection Equipment) training device in life safety classes. The GP-5 was produced in impressive numbers and is often seen as a symbol of the Soviet Union’s civic preparedness and societal resilience.
The problem with this model, however, is that its filter is contaminated with asbestos. Inhaling these contaminants can be very dangerous to your health, so it’s recommended that you swap out this older filter with a modern one instead.
This newer model is similar to the GP-5 but has been made to withstand more of a biological or chemical attack. The m15sp is easy to wear and adjust, with a clear visor for an unobstructed field of view. It’s also lightweight and takes NATO-standard 40 mm threaded filters. It’s equipped with a central voice emitter for clear and effective communication, as well as drinking tubes with safety connections to allow you to safely drink in NBC environments.
Unlike the GP-5, this newer version is designed to protect against biological or chemical attacks, as well as nuclear weapons. The m15sp is an excellent addition to any bug out bag or emergency disaster kit, and it’s available in several sizes to ensure that everyone can find the perfect fit. This mask is manufactured to the full government specifications and has a soft, flexible rubber that feels great on the face.
