Thailand isn’t usually known as a major drug hub, but the picturesque beachside town of Pattaya has found itself entangled in the international steroid trade. The country has a reputation for being a cheap, convenient destination for aspiring amateur bodybuilders looking to bulk up. But despite strict laws against the drugs, those in pursuit of a Hollywood-style physique are increasingly heading to Thailand for their steroids. And it’s not just tourists who are taking advantage of the country’s location, with locals also stockpiling and reselling the drugs.

The steroid market in Thailand is regulated by the Bureau of Drug Control under the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Possession of anabolic steroids, a class of drugs that stimulate muscle growth by increasing the production of testosterone, is illegal in Australia and can lead to a year in prison if caught. The drugs, which are often combined with other medicines and used for off-label purposes, can cause a host of side effects. These include renal problems, alopecia and infertility.

The drugs are also highly addictive and can cause serious health issues if abused. Prolonged use can also result in a condition called periorbital and orbital cellulitis, which occurs when the space around the eyes becomes swollen, affecting vision. This is a serious problem that needs to be treated in hospital. Steroids Thailand
